Before you choose
Where you live decides which prop firms you can buy from, and what you get there. Futures prop firms trade CME products through platforms such as Tradovate, Rithmic and NinjaTrader, and most of them serve US traders on the same terms as everyone else. Forex and CFD firms are more mixed. MetaQuotes and Spotware restrict MT5 and cTrader for US clients of prop firms, so firms that serve US residents offer platforms such as Match-Trader, TradeLocker, DXtrade or TradingView, and a few sell through a separate US site or exclude the US altogether.
Firms check where you live when you verify your identity, usually before your funded account or first payout, and a VPN does not change your country of residence. Buying from a firm that excludes the US risks losing both the account and the fee.
The status list above covers every firm we track: what a US resident can buy there, a link to the firm's own terms and the date we last checked it. Firms that sell to US residents through a separate site or at US-only prices appear there but not in the ranking, because the prices we list do not apply. Confirm on the firm's site before you pay, because these policies change without notice.
How we rank
Only firms where US residents can buy the plans we list, at the prices we list, appear, ordered by the cheapest account a US resident can buy after live discounts. The order is recomputed from the pricing and terms in our database whenever a firm's data changes, and no firm can pay for its position on this page. Read more about where our data comes from in our research methodology.
Prop Firms That Accept US Traders: FAQs
Which prop firms accept US traders?
Most futures prop firms do, on the same terms as everyone else. Most forex and CFD firms do too, but with limits, mainly on which platforms you can use. The status list on this page covers every firm we track, with a link to each firm's own terms.
Why can't US traders use MT5 at most prop firms?
MetaQuotes and Spotware, the companies behind MT5 and cTrader, restrict their platforms for US clients of prop firms. Firms that serve US residents offer other platforms instead, such as Match-Trader, TradeLocker, DXtrade or TradingView.
Can I use a VPN to join a firm that does not accept US traders?
No. Eligibility depends on where you live, not where your connection appears to be, and firms verify your identity and address before funding or paying out. Accounts opened from an excluded country can be closed, often without a refund.
How do you check each firm's US status?
We read each firm's own restricted-country list, eligibility FAQ or terms, link to that page and date the check. We recheck every month and drop the date once a check is more than 30 days old, so confirm on the firm's site before you pay.
