Before you choose
Tradovate is a cloud platform: it runs in a browser, as a Windows or Mac app and on your phone, and your layouts and positions follow you from one to the next. You can trade it without installing anything and without a Windows machine, which is why so many futures prop firms run their accounts on it, and why it suits traders who manage positions away from their desk.
A Tradovate-based account is also the most flexible to trade. Besides Tradovate's own screens, the same login usually opens NinjaTrader, which owns Tradovate, and many firms let you place orders from TradingView charts. Whether TradingView is switched on, and whether an add-on fee applies, is set by each firm, so check before you count on it. Drawdown and daily loss limits are enforced by the firm's own risk system; if the platform and the firm's dashboard ever disagree, the dashboard is the one that counts.

Do I need a paid Tradovate plan to trade a prop firm account?
No. The firm issues your Tradovate login and covers platform access in the evaluation or account fee; Tradovate's own membership plans are for personal brokerage accounts. Some firms do charge separately for extras, such as TradingView access or live market data once you are funded, so read the firm's fee list.
Can I trade a Tradovate prop account from TradingView?
Often, yes. Tradovate connects to TradingView's trading panel, so you can place orders from TradingView charts with your firm-issued Tradovate login. Whether it is switched on for your account, and at what cost, is the firm's decision, so confirm it before you buy.
Tradovate or NinjaTrader: which should I use for a prop account?
Tradovate if you want to trade from any device without installing anything; NinjaTrader if you rely on its desktop tools or NinjaScript indicators and trade from a Windows machine. Because NinjaTrader owns Tradovate, a Tradovate-based account can usually be traded on either, so you can start on one and switch later.
Does Tradovate work on a Mac?
Yes. Tradovate runs in any modern browser and has a Mac app, which makes it the simplest futures prop setup for Mac users. NinjaTrader's desktop platform, by contrast, needs Windows.
