Before you choose
NinjaTrader is the desktop platform many futures prop traders learned on: deep charting, a configurable order ladder, ATM bracket strategies and NinjaScript, the C# framework behind a large ecosystem of third-party indicators and automated strategies. If your workspace already lives in NinjaTrader, choosing a firm that supports it saves you rebuilding it, and every firm on this page lists it.
What differs between firms is the plumbing underneath. NinjaTrader reaches your prop account through the firm's data feed, usually Tradovate or Rithmic, and that decides which connection you set up and which login you use. Licensing differs too: some firms supply a NinjaTrader licence for both the evaluation and the funded account, others for one stage only, and some expect you to bring your own. The desktop version runs on Windows only; Mac traders use NinjaTrader's browser version, which does not run desktop NinjaScript strategies, or Windows in a virtual machine.

Do prop firms give you a free NinjaTrader licence?
Some do. Several futures firms supply a licence key or cover NinjaTrader under their own licence, at least during the evaluation; others expect you to bring your own, or to buy one once you are funded. Check the firm's platform page for both stages before you buy, because a licence you have to pay for belongs in your budget.
Can I use NinjaTrader on a Mac?
Not the desktop version natively: NinjaTrader Desktop is built for Windows. Mac traders either run Windows in a virtual machine or use NinjaTrader's browser version, which covers charting and order entry but does not run strategies written for the desktop. If your edge depends on a NinjaScript strategy, plan for Windows.
How does NinjaTrader connect to a prop firm account?
Through the firm's data feed. Firms on Tradovate let you sign in to NinjaTrader with the Tradovate login they issue, since NinjaTrader owns Tradovate; firms on Rithmic use a Rithmic connection with credentials the firm sends you. The firm's setup guide names the connection to choose.
Can I run automated NinjaScript strategies on a prop account?
NinjaTrader can run them; whether you may is the firm's call. Rules on automated trading differ widely. Some firms allow it, some only during the evaluation, and some ban it on funded accounts. Read the firm's prohibited-strategy rules before you rely on a strategy you do not watch.
