TradingView
TradingView is a web-based charting and market-analysis platform, not a broker. Traders connect it to a compatible funded account through a third-party integration, typically via Tradovate or another supported broker panel, in order to place trades without leaving the charting interface.
Why it matters
Compatibility determines which account type a trader should choose. Several futures prop firms route TradingView execution through Tradovate, while accounts built on Rithmic infrastructure generally cannot connect directly to TradingView at all. The free and paid tiers of TradingView also differ in data currency: free access commonly updates on a several-second delay, which matters far more for scalping than for slower, longer-hold strategies.
Live data
Example
A funded futures trader opens a chart for an index future contract, adds a moving average and RSI for confirmation, then opens the Trading Panel at the bottom of the chart, selects the connected broker, and submits a market or limit order with a stop and target attached, all without switching to a separate execution platform.
Common misconception
Traders often assume TradingView is itself a complete trading platform that works with any funded account. In practice it depends on a broker bridge such as Tradovate, and some order-routing setups, including certain Rithmic-based accounts, cannot connect directly at all. A second common error is assuming the free version delivers fully live data. Free tiers typically refresh every few seconds rather than continuously, which is a meaningful handicap for fast, scalping-style entries even though it may be adequate for traders holding positions over longer timeframes.
